Dear Dave and “T. A.”,

As the Lord would have it, today I listened to your “Did Jesus Have The Power To Take Up His Life?” program segment (#3602d) on “Search The Scriptures Daily”. The following Scripture was the focus of the discussion (http://www.thebereancall.org/node/1147):

“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.” (John 10:17 KJV)

And this is what Dave had to say on the subject that isn’t true to God’s Word:

“We have so many hymns that talk about Christ shed his blood. No, Christ did not shed his blood. Someone else shed his blood. Shedding of blood means you are causing a person to bleed.”

Now that was what Dave had to say, and I want to do you a favor. Because it was only two (2) segments earlier – “Muslims Bomb Church In Italy” (http://www.thebereancall.org/node/1145) – that Dave made the following request:

“We can read through the Word of God; we can check it out. But let us bring our lives and our theology in line with God’s Word. That’s all we’re trying to do and if anyone listening out there—you feel we’re not doing this—I mean we’re trying. You feel we’re giving false interpretation, a false understanding, please write to us. We would be happy to deal with it on the program. We don’t want to lead people astray. If you can point out from the Word of God where we are wrong, you would be doing us a favor.

And with that in mind, please allow me to prove and correct Dave’s error through God’s Holy Word (King James Version).

God’s Word says that Jesus “shed” His Blood for us:

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” (Matthew 26:28 KJV)

Because Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb:

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29 KJV)

And Jesus was also the Great High Priest that offered up the sacrificial Lamb by shedding His Blood:

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:14-15 KJV)

Jesus was both Great High Priest and sacrificial Lamb. Jesus was the Sacrifice, and He was the Priest that offered up the Sacrifice.

I hope this clears up your confushion. Also, I hope you’ve had time to not only read our latest – “ The Berean Call And T. A. McMahon’s Suicide Seduction!” (http://www.fmh-child.org/S7.10.11.html) – but, more importantly, repent of your sin. I mean, after all, Hell is a terrible place to be FOREVER!

In Christ,
