JSM Notice

The following letter-form was brought about as a means of teaching my children the Word of God through the mail. And of course, quite naturally so, that’s the reason I begin these letters with "Dear Children" and end them with "Love Dad". So for the rest of you who participate in these weekly messages, please keep their original intended purpose in mind.

Dear Children,

Wow! Things are really cooking with the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries! I mean if Tareva Henderson’s true confessions weren’t enough already – “ Tareva Henderson Speaks Her Mind On The Jimmy Swaggart Ministries!” and “ Why Was Tareva Henderson At Jimmy Swaggart Ministries?” – then check this one out!

It’s what you might want to call the “news flash” of the week, and we’re going to entitle it “Jimmy Swaggart And Family: Hypocrisy Beyond Compare!” And to kinda like set the mood for what’s about to come, I’ve even included Cindy Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!” for your listening enjoyment (talk about worldly).

Jill And FriendsBecause you see today at “21:06:16 +0000 [05:06:16 PM EDT]” I received the following email from an anonymous writer who found this photo on a FWC member's Facebook page:

Here's a pic from a recent bachelorette party for Jill Swaggart's sister, Jennifer a singer at Crossfire. This party was held in the barroom at Pat O'Brien's, a famous nightcub in New Orleans, La. Pictured in this photo is Grace Larson, FWC featured vocalist, Jennifer Douglas, Crossfire youth ministry singer, Jill Swaggart, JSM singer and wife of pastor Gabe Swaggart and Alaina Simoneaux, a FWC Crossfire ministries singer, as well what appears to be a nice vintage Merlot and various gang signs...all in fun of course. Why go to Pat O's to minister? (Note: The picture on the right was actually taken in Baton Rouge, LA. The New Orleans “bar” picture can be seen in the sermonet “Jimmy Swaggart’s Hard Rock Café!”)

Wow! Can you believe it? I mean it looks as though our “Jimmy Swaggart And His Unholy Worship Team!” has taken on a whole new dimension with Gabe Swaggart and his “unholy worship team” at Crossfire.

In fact this is as good a time as ever to introduce another “true confession” from Tareva Henderson. Because you see the following from “Mr. Phoenix of California” was posted on her Facebook page in response to the online debate over our original YouTube entitled “Tareva Henderson At Jimmy Swaggart Ministries”:

....... Listen up. Most likely I'm the only liberal Californian here so I'm going to give my 2 cents on all this. I speak from personal experience. I speak as a former Jimmy Swaggart Bible College student. I was in the choir, two row...s up, the day Brother Swaggart went live in front of a packed house and in front of tv cameras to do his now famous "I have sinned" confession. I saw it all. I witnessed everything live. When it was over and Brother Swaggart walked away from the pulpit on his way to the back exit he hugged several members of the choir on his way out. I was one of those members. I saw it and I was there. The next day literally everyone made a mass exodus. I was one of the last students to leave. I stayed till the very end. I realized his ministry was ruined. Through it all I gained a deeper understanding of forgiveness. My personal disappointment came when I felt he refused to set an example for others by appropriately stepping down. It just seemed like he was exposing himself even further to ridicule. Like the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

On the issue of "secular" music VS. "gospel"...I think if a secular artist wants to sing a gospel song then so be it. Next month I'm going to see Robert Plant in Berkeley and I'm certain he'll play Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down. Go for it! Sing it. Maybe if he sings it backwards it'll say something like "Heavenly Father, what do we do with all these people who are so holy there's no room in Heaven for 'em?"

People. Please. Relax. Music is a matter of personal taste. I've seen some bad ass gospel music cranked up live in churches that had some of the whitest people dancing in the aisles. David danced before the Lord naked for crying out loud. I'm not actually certain God wanted to see David dance naked, let alone his younger wives. I also faintly recall a verse in the book of Psalms that said " sing unto the Lord a new (N-E-W) song".

Back in my days of being a student at Jimmy Swaggart Bible College I worked part time at Mulate's Cajun restaurant down from JSM on Bluebonnet road. I was the only student that worked there. Nobody else wanted to work with "sinners". I didn't mind at all. The "sinners" treated me like I was a normal person, with respect, and I actually saw Jimmy and his wife pop in once. I felt that if all I did was hang out with born again believers then what good was I?

I learned so much in that short amount of time. Lessons I'll never forget.

Enjoy whatever music you gravitate to. Challenge yourself to step a little closer to the sinner you avoid associating with the most; yourself. Be a fully alive human being. Let down your guard. Throw away the façade. Be real. If David danced naked then so can you.

So there you have it! The so-called “church of Christ” has gone absolutely bomkers! From the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries to the former Jimmy Swaggart College student, we’re really in a mess when it comes to Christians and their music!

In fact, getting back to the “Jill Swaggart and friends” picture, would you even care to guess the meaning of those hand signs? Well if you really want to know, stay tuned for our up-coming message on the “New Age Religion”. You really don’t want to miss it! (See “Gabriel Swaggart And His Unholy Worship Team!” for an understanding of the darkness behind the hand signs.)

In closing, it should be abundantly obvious by now that not too awful many in the so-called Christian community are actually Christian. So will somebody, anybody, please “keep on keeping the faith in Jesus”?

Love,

Dad (Bruce Hallman)
