The following letter-form was brought about as a means of teaching my children the Word of God through the mail. And of course, quite naturally so, that’s the reason I begin these letters with "Dear Children" and end them with "Love Dad". So for the rest of you who participate in these weekly messages, please keep their original intended purpose in mind.

17 September, 2000

Dear Children,

Before we continue on with this unbelievably fascinating tour of the "human body and sin" I’d like to once again give Father God all the glory for what He’s doing. You see He is the only reason I’m able to write about this mind boggling revelation in the first place. In fact let me give any of you who might consider yourselves "slow learners" a little bit of encouragement by saying that when you take it on down to the "gray matter" of intelligence, it ain’t how much you got that counts but how you use it. I mean just to show you how slow I really am, I’m finally catching on to some of the things I was taught forty (40) years ago.

Now that’s what you call one more slooooow thought process! And even though most of my life I’ve hated being a "mental midget" with a passion, I’ve kinda like all of the sudden grown to love it with a joy unspeakable. Because you see the one very important thing this major disability has taught me is that even though I can’t always trust in myself for the answers I can always trust in God. In other words I don’t have it "in the flesh" but I certainly can get it through "The Spirit". Ain’t it great!

In fact going back to the basic two-step requirement for becoming a real life born-again Christian, the first step requires accepting Jesus Christ as Lord, with the second being that of accepting Him as Savior. And you see it’s because of that one little old word "Lord" that far too many folks who might think they’re Christians really ain’t. I mean first of all, how many folks do you figure are really willing to spend time each and every day studying the Holy Bible and praying in the spirit so that they can hear what the Lord has got to say? And even if some folks might muster up enough dedication to do exactly that, how many of those do you figure will actually follow it up by doing what God’s Spirit has told them to do?

Well the answer to that one is not very encouraging. In fact the reason so many Christians really aren’t saved is because of the simple reason that they aren’t willing to obey His Spirit. The "intellect of their flesh" can’t seem to understand the "wisdom of His Spirit", and therefore the things that God wants just don’t get done. So that’s the reason I’m perfectly happy being a saved "mental midget" instead of a lost "mental genius". You see it’s because of my mental inadequacies that I’ve been able to receive the abundance of His Spirit. And after having read all that, Mathew 20:16 should be a whole lot easier for you to grab hold to: "So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen." (Matthew 20:16)

So now that we’ve reached the understanding of how this revelation of "the human body and sin" is all of Him (The Great I Am) and none of me (the mental midget), what do you say we continue on along with this week’s message of Possessed By The Spirit? Because as you should remember, it was in the closing moments ofWhich Door Did Satan Use? (part IV of How Do You Want Your Fire... Now Or Later?) that we discovered how God had created the serpent (snake) with a very unusual device called the "Jacobson’s organ". And it was through this very special "spirit grabbing" feature of the serpent that any "old spirit" within tongue’s reach would be unavoidably picked up and transferred to the reptile’s brain. And iffin what I’ve just said has left you standing in a cloud of dust, then I highly recommend that you head on back to the previous sermonet and discover what these things called "spirits" are all about.

But anyway, it’s through this great "revelation of the serpent" that we now have a much clearer understanding of Genesis 3:1: "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" Because you see the word "subtil" in that Scripture means "to be strangely suggestive", and of course it was only through a flick of the serpent’s tongue that the spirit of Satan was able to suggest to him that he entice the woman (Eve) to do the sin in the first place.

Amazing! Would you ever have guessed that a serpent could actually became demonically possessed by the spirit of Satan? Well they can and he did, and of course the poor old serpent didn’t really have a whole lot of choice in the matter. I mean without a doubt Satan is one more mean old nasty devil who cares only for himself and nobody else. He’ll do absolutely anything to anybody in order to get his way... but of course that’s only if he’s allowed the chance. Because you see no matter how mean and nasty he might be, he still ain’t God.

And just to make sure that "Old Splitfoot" doesn’t get all blowed-up with pride during our little discussion of "Satanic possession", this is as good a place as any to put him in his proper place. Because it’s in Job 1:6-12 that we find Satan humbly engaged in the following conversation with God: "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. And the LORD said to unto Satan, Whence commest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for naught? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side?.. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD."

Now do you see what I mean about Satan ain’t God? I mean bad as he might be, Satan doesn’t even blow his nose without asking God’s permission first. In fact before this series is over and done with we’re going to understand how God uses the evil powers of Satan to actually reverse the process of sin in the human body. In other word’s God takes the thing that causes "sin" and works it in reverse to get rid of "sin". Pretty amazing huh? And of course when it comes to the story of Job, that’s exactly the reason why God gave Satan the go ahead to "work him over" real good. Because you see it was somewhere along Job’s earthly journey to Hell and back (he got worked over) that he miraculously lost at least one of his "sin problems".

But anyway, getting back on the subject of evil spirits and "demonic possession", so far we’ve seen both a serpent and a little boy "be possessed by a demonic spirit" through their nose, and both a man and a woman (Adam and Eve) "possess a demonic spirit" through their ears. So just what do you figure is the difference between "being possessed" and "possessing"?

Well I’m so very glad you asked! You see that one little old simple question is going to send us right back digging for a few more of the facts on the human body’s "master computer control" and it’s seven (7) different nerve sensors. Because what we uncovered in the last sermonet was just a basic understanding of how the nerve sensors first sense whatever it is they’re sensing before sending it on to the brain. So now that we’ve been there and done that, what do you say we break it all down a little bit further?

Because in the real world of the human body’s nervous system, the "master computer control" is actually made up of many different and varied parts. So what do you say I just name off a few, starting at the top of the head and working it on down to the bottom of the toes? Of course the brain is at the top of the list, with the brain stem following, then the spinal cord, the interconnecting nerves, and finally all the many many little nerve sensors (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and skin).

OK, so now that we know what to call all these "master computer control parts", it’s time to figure out how they all work! And probably the best way to do it is by using the telephone (the kind with wires) as our example. I mean after all, what better way for sensors to communicate whatever it is they are sensing than the telephone? And to start this thing off with a fairly simple illustration, what do you say we have this human, who we’ll call Adam, hang his big toe on the corner of the bed. Now the first thing that happens upon impact is that the nerve sensors in the skin of Adam’s big toe becomes painfully aware of a very big problem. They immediately get on the phone and dial 911 in hopes of being connected with the "master computer control part" called the brain. An emergency has occurred and they need help fast!

Now seeing how this particular telephone call from the big toe to the brain is kinda like long distance, God built into the human body something that would speed up the process of getting help during these emergency situations. Because you see the way Adam’s "master computer control" works in this "toe smashing long distance emergency situation" goes something like this:

The emergency 911 call made by the skin sensors of the big toe travels along the interconnecting nerves (telephone wires) to the spinal cord where it travels up into the brain stem and then into the brain. However seeing how this is a 911 emergency situation, when the call reaches the spinal cord a reflex action comes into play. Because you see it’s in the spinal cord that God installed one of those automatic "call-back responders", so that when an emergency call reaches the spinal cord it immediately makes a call-back to the big toe telling it to pull it’s self away from the corner of the bed. Now it’s right about the time this "toe jerk" action’s been completed that the brain finally receives it’s long-awaited long distance call. And of course seeing how the brain is highly trained to react to these emergency situations, without wasting any more valuable time it sends out a few calls for both Adam’s mouth to let out a scream and his eyeballs to roll back in his head.

Neat huh? Well that’s the basics of how it all works with the nerve sensors of the skin that detect temperature, pressure, and pain. So what do you say we tackle the nerve sensors of the head next? I mean after all, that’s about all we’ve got left to cover. Because you see it’s all these other sensors (eyes, ears, nose, and mouth) that don’t get their telephone calls routed through interconnecting nerves or the spinal cord. Nope! Whatever it is that these nerve senses detect, whether it’s what the eyes see, what the ears hear, or what the mouth taste, will be first routed to the brain stem and then on to the brain. So that’s the way the nerve sensors of the head work.

But hold on just a cotton picking minute! What about the nose? Have we forgotten about the nose? Not on your life! I just wanted to save the best for last. Because out of all the nerve sensors of the head, the nose is something very very special. You see after it does the smelling, and wants to do the telling, it places a call directly to the brain! Now how do you like them apples? It’s called instant communication directly to the "big cheese" himself (the brain).

Now why do you figure the nose gets such special treatment? I mean why did God make it’s connection to the brain so much different than the rest? Well this is right about the place where the dirt’s gonna fly. I mean we’re about ready to do some more digging. Because you see God designed the brain, the one that the nose is plugged directly into, to kinda like make all the important decisions for the body. In other words the brain is what does the thinking about what the rest of the body’s going to do next. And just what do you suppose the brain thinks about? Would you believe me if I said "motion" and "emotion"?

So just what in the world do you figure that’s suppose to mean? Well starting things off with the "motion" word first, a good definition goes something like this: motion is the act of moving the body or any of its parts. Now even though that might be a very short and simple definition, we could really write volumes on the one word "act". I mean let’s take for an example the "act" of putting the hand in motion to pick up a pencil after being told to do it. The first thing that happens is that the brain hears it from the ear that the order’s been given for the hand to pick up a pencil. That’s the first step. Then the brain has to make the decision to pick up a pencil, which is turn tells the eyes to find a pencil, and of course all this is followed up by the arm being told to do the rest! However, iffin you really wanted to get down into the details of that seemingly simple little act of motion, you could actually break it on down forever by considering each and every nerve involved in that pencil picking process. Because you see the eyes have to first locate the pencil and then direct the fingers, wrist, elbow, and shoulder through all their various movements and throughout the entire pencil picking ordeal. I mean without a doubt, the brain has to do a whole lotta thinking in order for the body to produce even the most simple pencil picking motions.

And now that we’ve got the motion down pat, what do you say we uncover what the brain thinks about the word "emotion". Because in the true sense of the word, an emotion is simply a feeling such as love, hate, joy, fear, hunger, thirst, or pain, which tries to convince the brain to make the decision to put the body into motion. And of course the reason why the body wants to go into motion is so that it can do something about the way that it’s feeling. So you see the emotion in this pencil picking example was the signal sent out to the brain by the nerve sensors of the ear after they received (heard) the order to pick up a pencil. And going back to the example of Adam and his big toe, it was the smashing experience with the corner of the bed that caused his nerve sensors of pain to send out the signal that produced the emotion that convinced his brain to put his mouth and eyes into motion.

Well doggie, we’re finally starting to make some headway! And even though we still don’t understand the reason why the nose is plugged directly into the brain, we’ve at least uncovered the basic facts about what the brain actually does. So seeing how it’s the brain that not only receives all the body’s emotional phone calls but also has to decide what to do about them, just what do you figure the brain stem does?

Well have you ever heard tell of a telephone relay station? It’s sorta like the very next important place the phone call goes to after having left the phone of the caller. Because you see what happens at these telephone relay stations is that the number dialed by the caller is used to make the call go to the place that’s being called. It’s kinda like driving up to an unfamiliar intersection on a long trip, with a zillion different ways to go, and getting instructions from some old traffic cop standing in the middle of the road. I mean if the cop doesn’t give you the right directions you could end up on the other side of the world. And even though the traffic cop usually does a pretty good job of giving out directions, there’s always a chance that a screw-up might occur.

So in a simplified form, that’s kinda sorta the way the brain stem works. It’s the place in the body’s "master computer control" where all the different calls from all the different nerve sensors are directed to the place that they need to go... that is all except for the nose.

Now even though the job of relaying calls from the nerve sensors to the different areas of the brain is the most important job that the brain stem has to do, there is still one more less important function that we need to mention. You see the brain stem also has the ability to kinda like take charge of certain body movements (motions) after all the details have been worked out by the brain’s emotional thinking. And using the pencil picking example once again to explain how this "brain stem memory" all works, I dare say that for most pencil picking folks the act of picking up the pencil would only have to be done one time with the eyes open before it could be repeated a second time with the eyes closed. In fact after having repeated the same movements several times it probably wouldn’t even be necessary to even think about what’s being done as you do it. You see once the brain figures out how to do whatever it’s going to do, the brain stem has the ability to give the orders to just do it. It’s kinda like the reflex action we discussed in the spinal cord. The brain stem has the ability to make things happen without the brain even getting involved. And of course going back to the nerve sensors of the head, it’s the eyes, the ears, and the mouth that all must place their calls through the relay station of the brain stem in order to be able to talk with the brain.

So are you still with me? Well seeing how this one’s kinda hard to imagine, what do you say we visit a dog? Because the dog I want you to meet belonged to some fellow name Pavlov. And seeing how I don’t know the dog’s name, I guess we’ll just have to call him Pavlov’s dog. But anyway, what Pavlov did was teach his dog to "think food" overtime a bell rang. And even though that’s not considered such a great feat for us rational thinking human beings, it’s pretty significant considering the way that God designed the "master computer control" of the dog. Because you see as far as the dog is concerned, if he don’t smell the food he ain’t a gonna act like there’s food. That’s the way God designed the dog, but Pavlov was able to teach the brain stem of his dog that the sound of a bell would smell like food.

Got it? Well now that you’ve heard all that, what do you think about this fellow Pavlov? Do you really think it was out of love that he taught his dog this bell trick? I mean can you even imagine the pain and suffering that dog must have gone through iffin he lived next door to a school house? Just think about it! Have you really ever tried satisfying your hunger by eating a bell? You see what this fellow Pavlov actually did was change God’s perfectly designed dog into a freak of nature... and it was all done very easily with a little help from the dog’s ears (what he heard), mouth (what he tasted), and brainstem (what he thought he was going to taste when he heard it).

So now do you get the picture of just how easily God’s perfect creation can be altered and changed through a combination of the brain stem and a few nerve sensors of the "master computer control"? And do you figure that after it was all said and done Pavlov’s dog was really happy with the changes? Well to kinda like put all this into a real life human perspective, Pavlov was the spirit of Satan who tricked the unsuspecting human (the dog) into believing his lie (the sound of the bell means food) through the help of some delectable delights (food). Because you see the way it all worked was Satan would ring a bell just before handing over a mouth watering T-bone to the human. And it was only after several repeat performances of this "bell ringing T-bone meal" that the human expected the T-bone whenever Satan rang the bell.

And now with that simple scenario in mind, it’s time for Isaiah 58:1-6: "Cry aloud , spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God; they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness; ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heaven burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

All right, so did everybody fully comprehend that Scripture? Well probably not. And seeing how that was what the Lord ordered, I guess we’ll just have to try our best to explain it. You see what we’ve just finished reading is a pretty good example of what sin does, what it takes to get rid of it, and why most people most often decide just to keep it. Because going back to Pavlov (Satan) and his dog (human), it was the first time that the human took the T-bone offered by Satan after hearing the ringing of the bell that’s considered a "sin". He believed Satan’s lie (ringing in the ears) in order to please his flesh (T-bone on the taste buds). However from that point on the "sin" sorta like gradually turned into a "transgression". In other words when it comes to the T-bone, the sin becomes a transgression once the brain stem has fully been trained to believe the nerve sensors of the ears instead of the nerve sensors of the nose. So at that point the God designed method of expecting food by smell has been replaced with the Satan designed method of expecting food by hearing.

Now it’s right about the time that the "sin" turns into a "transgression" that the "yoke" comes into the picture. Because in the true sense of the word, a yoke is a device used to connect two animals (such as oxen) at the neck in order for them to both work together to accomplish a common task. In fact the yoke does such an excellent job of connecting the two together that whatever the strongest one does must be imitated by the other. And going back to the example of Pavlov (Satan) and his dog (the human), would you even care to venture a guess as to where the brain stem is located? Would you believe the area of the neck just below the base of the skull where all good yokes are attached? In other words once the sin has turned into a transgression, the brain stem of the sinner becomes physically and spiritually connected (yoked) to Satan.

Sounds pretty serious! I mean after having put on the yoke with Satan, how in the world do you ever get it back off? Well that’s where this fourth word from Isaiah 58 comes into focus. Because seeing how the whole transgressing sin mess started out with Satan lying about food, it only makes good sense that it should be ended the same way... but in reverse. And of course the ever so popular name of this yoke removing process is called "fasting".

So would you like to hear a few of the details of just how it all works? Well of course you would. I mean who in their right mind wants to be thinking about food every time some old bell rings. But anyway, the yoke removing process is really very simple. Because step one involves the sinner turning to God for help (Jesus Christ as Lord), with step two being that of the sinner confessing to God that they bought into Satan’s lie and really want forgiveness for messing up their brain stem (Jesus Christ as Savior), and finally step three in which the forgiven sinner tells Satan that his stupid bell ringing ain’t a gonna make him hungry anymore. And you see that’s right about the place where the forgiven sinner has to sorta like stop eating for awhile (fasting) just so they won’t become a liar. Because the undeniable truth of the matter is that as soon as the forgiven sinner says they ain’t a gonna sin no more (get hungry when the bell rings) that Satan kinda like kicks it on into high gear with his non stop bell ringing.

Now what we’ve just tried to explain through our little "sin, transgression, yoke, and fasting example" is a pretty good overview of this entire series (How Do You Want You Fire... Now Or Later?). Because before it’s all said and done we’re going to uncover the facts of just how this "fasting process" gets down to the basic body cells in order to reverse all the sin that’s somehow gotten into the human body in the first place. In fact going back to the introduction of this little message, you should remember how we talked about a real life born-again Christian being someone who calls out to God in the spirit, hears from God in the Spirit, and then obeys God through the power of the Spirit. That is the salvation process, which includes the fasting process, and it’s the one and only way that anybody’s going to be saved from their sins.

But getting back to the Scripture of Isaiah 58 and what it all means, the message that the Lord was trying to get across to that group of "very religious folks" was that there is both a right way and a wrong way to fast. Because you see all the pain and suffering that goes along with the fasting process ain’t a gonna break one single yoke of Satan unless it’s done according to God’s Spirit. He’s the only One Who knows each and every sin in the human body, and He’s likewise the only One Who knows how to get each and every sin out.

So that was just a very brief introduction into the sin reversing process called fasting... but we really ain’t even ready to go there quite yet. I mean now that we’ve finally dug up this thing about the yoke it’s time to get back to our main topic of "Satanic possession". Because iffin you recall, it was way back in part II (Once Upon A Time, God's People Were Perfect!) that we witnessed our sinless newly-wed couple commit the very first sin. And you see even though it wasn’t very obvious at the time, what that one little old bite of the "forbidden fruit" did was to allow the lovely couple to possess just a little bit of Satan.

Now when it comes to the human body possessing just a little bit of Satan, the old saying of "a little bit goes a long way" seems to describe it to a "T". Because you see it didn’t take too awful long before that "one little bite" that was taken by two healthy people turned into a "a whole lotta trouble" for quite a few folks. And just to clue you in on what I mean when I say "trouble", let’s pick up on one of the many remarkable stories about Jesus in Matthew 4:23-25: "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan."

So do you see what I mean about "a little bit of Satan goes a long way"? I mean just what do you think about all those troubles? Well putting it all into a very easily understood mathematical formula, the way these troubles all come about is that sin plus (+) the human body equals (=) a sick human body. And seeing how the Scripture talks about people having both the "sickness" and the "disease", we can figure out the real difference between the two by going back to the original Greek. Because you see the word for "sickness" actually means "an evil destructive process in the human body which causes extreme pain and suffering, both physically and mentally", while the "disease" word means "sickness in a very mild way". In other words when it comes to being sick, the "sickness" is the very worst that it can get while the "disease" is the best.

And now that we’ve gotten through this basic understanding of "sin in the human body", what do you say we get just a little bit more specific? In fact by digging on down to the part about "and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments" we’re going to uncover a few specific facts about some pretty awful sickening things. Because you see in this Scripture the "sick people" are really those "people who possess it badly". And of course seeing how the word "possess" means "to willingly take hold of something", then these "sick people" are folks who’ve taken hold of whatever it is their holding on to without even the slightest thought of letting it go.

So after they "willfully grabbed hold to it" a pretty amazing thing followed by them becoming "taken with divers diseases and torments". Because you see those two little old words "taken with" mean that the one who’s doing the taking (possessing) has like somehow become the one who’s been took (possessed). In other words they grabbed it first but it grabbed them last. And what it was that grabbed them last was the divers diseases and torments.

Now the meaning of the Greek word for "diseases" is the same as that for "sickness", and of course the word for "divers" means "all different types". So by putting that all together in an easy to understand definition we come up with "the thing that grabs the grabber (divers diseases) is all different types of evil destructive processes in the human body which causes extreme pain and suffering, both physically and mentally".

All right, so now for the tormenting grabber. Because in the true sense of the word, "torment" means "to hit rock bottom". This is the grabber that’s best described as the sensation in the human body that comes about after every nerve sensor has become overloaded with it’s maximum amount of information. It’s what’s commonly called "having the whole world come crashing down on top of your head". In other words "torment" is the emotion resulting when the worse imaginable situation has just gotten worse.

So are you starting to feel the emotional results of Satan’s "little bit of sin"? Well as far as possessing is concerned (being grabbed after having grabbed first), we’ve still got two more grabbers yet to go. In fact the next one brings to mind some of the spooky sorta things that might occur during a full moon. In fact that’s exactly the reason why the word "lunatic" has the luna word in it. Because you see a lunatic is someone who tends to go ‘nuts’ (fool crazy) right about the time the moon goes through its changes. And of course whenever one of these moon changing episodes does occur, the safest place for the lunatic to be is locked in one of those rubber padded cells. It’s called bouncing off the walls and not even getting hurt!

But anyway, let’s finish this grabbing thing up with the last grabber of the "palsy". Because when it comes to body motion, this is the grabber that kinda sorta takes it all away. You see the way this "palsy" grabber works is by attacking the nerves of the body that make the muscles do the moving. So instead of nice strong muscles making really smooth movements you get weak lifeless muscles making jerky erratic motions. In other words the palsy is not a physical condition that anyone in their right mind would willingly grab hold to, but yet a whole lotta folks get it because they’ve grab hold of sin!

So you see all of those terribly bad things (grabbers) are what happens in the human body after the human person willingly takes hold of (possesses) sin through one or more of the "master computer control" nerve sensors. Because it’s only after the person possesses the sin through the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, or skin that the sin takes control of the body by possessing the sinner through the brain stem! Got it?

And now that we’ve finally made it through the "possessing" part of this message, what about the "possessed"? Well in order to answer that question, we’ve got to head on back and dig up that one remaining sickness we never uncovered in Matthew 4:24: "And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils..." Because you see unlike "possessing a little bit of Satan", this word actually means to be fully "possessed by a devil". In fact when someone actually becomes possessed, the mind of the demonic spirit is in the brain of the person so that whatever the demon thinks about doing is exactly what that person ends up doing. And just how do you figure these demonic spirits manage to pull it all off?

May I have a drum roll please? Well the very obvious answer to that question is "it’s all in the nose!" I mean what happened to both the serpent and the little boy was nothing less than a full blown "demonic spirit take-over attempt" that took place in the brain of their "master computer control" by way of the nerve sensors of the nose. Their "big cheese" became totally and completely corrupted with the evil wicked emotions of the demonic spirit. In fact just to show you how bad this possessed thing really is, after it’s all been said and done there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hell of the possessed person doing what’s right, because the only thing they can think about is what’s wrong! Without a doubt this is one more very serious situation!

In fact just to show you how bad being possessed really is, this is right about the place where we need to revisit the little boy in Mark 9:17-18: "And one of the multitude answered and said, Master [Jesus], I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not."

Because as you should remember from the sermonet Which Door Did Satan Use?, it was God Who designed the human body’s nerve sensors (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and skin) so that "outside information" could be brought inside the body. And even though a good bit of the information our bodies bring in is purely worldly in nature, the nerve sensors were designed to receive information from the spirit world as well. In fact when you take it on down to the basics, it’s only through the nerve sensors of our bodies that anyone who’s ever been saved has been saved.

Now going back to the story of the demon possessed little boy once again, we find that after the demon spirit got inside, he kinda like started shutting down the little boy’s "life saving" nerve sensors. It’s what you call closing all the doors so that no other Spirit could come inside. Because you see it’s that one word "dumb" in the "dumb spirit" that not only means he couldn’t speak, but he also couldn’t hear. So iffin demon spirits can shut down all the nerve sensors of the human body, then just how can the Spirit of God ever get inside? In other words once someone gets possessed how can they be saved?

Well I’m so very glad you asked, because that takes us right on into I Timothy 2:3-4: "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

OK, so according to what we’ve just read, everybody’s who’s ever been born has the ability to be saved... even those who’ve been possessed by the devil. God said it, God meant it, and God even designed the human body to make sure that it all happens. And you see this is right about the place where God’s Perfect Design of the nose comes into play. Because the fact is that each and every nerve sensor of the human body goes through the "master computer control" relay station (brain stem) except for the nose. And not only did God make sure that the brain stem "traffic cop" didn’t mess up any of the "nose calls", but He even went so far as to make sure that the calls got placed in the first place.

And just how do you figure He did that? Well by digging down deep into the details of these nerve sensors we’ve uncovered the fact that once a nerve sensor gets damaged or destroyed it never gets replaced. You can break em but your body can’t fix em... that is all the nerve sensors except the nerve sensors of the nose. Because you see God designed the human body so that on a very regular basis all the nerve sensors of the nose get replaced... so that whenever the nose needs to make a call to the brain it can!

Don’t you just love it? I mean God designed our human bodies so that anybody who’s alive and kicking can be saved. In other words as long as breath is going into the body God’s Holy Spirit can do the same. In fact even if a person were only to breath through their mouth, the Holy Spirit could still get in because the nose is internally connected to the mouth.

However... even though the body is designed to be "fool proof" against the attacks of Satan, it is not "fool proof" against God. Because you see even though God wants everyone to be saved, anyone who denies the Spirit of God after "knowing" the Spirit of God will no longer have the life saving opportunity to "smell" the Spirit of God. It’s what’s commonly known as blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and after it happens the Spirit of God will never ever again enter the nose of the blasphemer: "And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven." (Luke 12:10)

Well I don’t know about you but all this talk about the brain has really made my brain tired. So what do you say we just shut this one down until the next time? And speaking of next time, if you think this one was deep just wait until the next!

But anyway, in closing, let me leave you with a few real good words of advice: You can possess the spirit of darkness, or be possessed by the spirit of sin, but if you’ll possess the Spirit of Holiness, He’ll possess you till the very end.

Keep On Keeping The Faith In Jesus!!!
